In another key development in Andhra Pradesh politics, former Deputy CM Aalla Nani has joined the Telugu Desam Party (TDP). Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu personally welcomed him into the party by draping him in the party's scarf. Once serving as the Deputy CM in the YS Jagan-led YSRCP government, Aalla Nani has now embarked on a new political journey with his entry into TDP.
In the 2024 Assembly elections, as the YSRCP suffered a crushing defeat, Aalla Nani also lost his position. Subsequently, he resigned from the YSRCP and began contemplating his political future. However, while deciding to switch parties, local leaders initially opposed his entry into TDP. Despite opposition from several leaders regarding his joining, multiple discussions took place. Ultimately, all disagreements were resolved, and he joined the TDP fold. With his entry, there are expectations that TDP will gain more strength in the West Godavari district.
Once a key leader in the YSRCP, Aalla Nani's decision to rejoin TDP under the leadership of Chandrababu Naidu has gained political significance. Analysts believe that with the TDP government in power in the state, his entry is likely to benefit the party. At the same time, the number of leaders switching from YSRCP to TDP is increasing. Particularly after the elections, the way several leaders are leaving YSRCP has become an interesting development. Such shifts could potentially impact the political equations in the state.
