Pakistan fires over 100 police officers for not reporting for duty

The official said that the policemen who were supposed to provide security to the teams travelling between the Gaddafi Stadium and hotels in Lahore did not turn up for duty and some of them refused to take charge altogether. The incident came to the notice of Punjab IGP Usman Anwar , who ordered strict action against the negligent policemen. A Punjab police official said that these officers belong to different sections of the police force. The decision was taken by the higher authorities after they noticed that they did not turn up for their assigned duties on various occasions.

Causes

There is no official information yet on why the dismissed police personnel were absent from duty. But according to local media reports, they are reportedly under stress due to long working hours. That is why they have decided not to report for duty.

The Federal Communications Commission has issued a statement regarding the reports of a terrorist threat to the Champions Trophy.Minister Attaullah Tarar condemned it.He made it clear that this mega event will be held peacefully and efficiently in Pakistan. The minister said this in an interview with Geo News on Monday.
