New Delhi: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman made key comments on Telangana's financial situation. She stated that Telangana had a surplus budget at the time of Andhra Pradesh's bifurcation, but later became trapped in debts. She clarified that the NDA government at the Centre does not discriminate against any state. She responded to opposition criticism regarding alleged injustice to Telangana in the Union Budget.

It is wrong to claim that NDA-ruled states, including Bihar, received more importance in the budget, she said. Telangana also received funds, including the establishment of the Kakatiya Mega Textile Park, she revealed. She spoke during the discussion on the Budget in the Rajya Sabha. She emphasized that Telangana had been given due importance in the central budget.

She highlighted the significance of projects like Sammakka Sarakka, the Ramagundam Plant, and the Turmeric Board for Telangana. She also pointed out that it was Prime Minister Modi who established the Turmeric Board. Referring to former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, she mentioned that though Indira contested and won from Medak in Telangana, it was Prime Minister Narendra Modi who established the railway station there.
